We invite you to join the All-Russian Conference on Didactics of Intercultural Communication in Foreign Language Teaching: Theory and Practice to celebrate the 75th anniversary of A. N. Utekhina, Doctor of Education, Full Professor.

A. N. Utekhina is a research school founder, the author of more than 200 papers, monographs and textbooks. Twenty people have been awarded Candidate’s degrees under her supervision, and some studies for Doctor’s degree are being conducted. Professor A. N. Utekhina has numerous awards of the regional and national levels. She is an Honoured Worker of Higher Professional Education of Russia.

The conference will include seminars, round tables, discussion clubs, plenary sessions and section meetings on topical issues of intercultural communication, theoretical and applied linguistics and philology as well as psychological, educational and methodological aspects of teaching foreign languages. Besides, we plan to include some lectures of foreign colleagues and leading Russian professors in linguistics, philology and linguodidactics.

Time: 3−4 October 2013.

Venue: Institute of Foreign Languages and Literature, Udmurt State Univeristy, Izhevsk.

Priority topics of discussion:

• Linguistic problems in intercultural research
• Literature and culture in teaching foreign languages: a way to develop intercultural competences
• Comparative linguoculturology and linguistic diversity
• Translation as interlinguistic and intercultural communication
• Development and implementation of an educational module in foreign language teaching
• Vocationally-oriented technologies in foreign language and intercultural education
• Foreign languages as a means of social support for students with disabilities
• The use of modern information and communication technologies in teaching languages and cultures
• Spiritual and moral upbringing of young people in linguocommunicative space: trends, technologies, prospects.

The topics for the discussion can be extended.

Working languages: Russian, English, German, French and Spanish. It is planned to publish a collection of conference materials.

Deadline for submission of abstracts in the electronic format: 1 September 2013. All references should be given in square brackets after the quotation (first, the number of the source, comma, the page number, for example: [1, 90–105]). The cited literature should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper.
